Intended purposeThe Endotracheal tube is intended into the trachea for the primary purpose of establishing and maintaining a patent airway and to ensure the adequate exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.Suggested instruction for use-cuffed ETTs
  1. Healthcare professionals should check patients'trachea at first, in order to select the appropriate specification and confirm that the ETTs should be inserted into trachea through the oral or nasal;
  2. Carefully remove the sterile tracheal tubes from its protective packaging;
  3. The patency of the main tube lumen should be visual checked prior to intubation;
  4. Check the cuff, pilot balloon and valve for leak-proofness and integrity prior to use (Insert a Luer syringe into the Luer adapter for the filling system and inject enough air to fully inflate the cuff);
  5. After the test inflation of the cuff, completely evacuate the air;
  6. Intubate the patient following currently accepted medical techniques, a laryngoscope should be used to check the inserted condition of endotracheal tubes;
  7. Once the patient is intubated, a Luer syringe or an appropriate VBM cuff pressure gauge should be used to inflate the cuff with just enough air to provide an effective seal of the trachea. The cuff pressure should normally not exceed 2.5kPa;
  8. Fix the tube of the patient following currently accepted medical techniques;
  9. Check that the inflating system is not leaking. Cuff pressure should be measured and the integrity of the system should be verified periodically during the intubation period. Any deviation from the selected sealing pressure should be investigated and corrected immediately;
  10. Patient conditions should be monitored during intubation period, and sputum should be cleaned;
  11. Prior to extubation, deflate the cuff by inserting a syringe into the cuff filling system and removing all of the air contained within the cuff until the pilot balloon has collapsed;
  12. Extubate the patient following currently accepted medical standards. Dispose of the tracheal tube.
